Mistakes. Failure. Missed opportunities. The pain of defeat. All life outcomes that SUCK. Well, guess what? Welcome to life. There WILL be pain. You WILL fail. You WILL fall. Guaranteed.
The real questions is: When you fall, how will you respond? Will you get back up? More importantly, will you get back up the 3rd time and 30th time and 300th time?
This is GRACE. This is how you survive.
Grace is the ability to get back up, dust yourself off, and to charge once again into the fray.
In order to appreciate grace, you must be willing to sacrifice your pride. You must be willing to commit yourself to action. You must be willing to take chances.
DO NOT FEAR FAILURE. FEAR THE INABILITY TO LEARN FROM YOUR MISTAKES.
Take this concept and apply it to your life. Teach it to your kids. Coach it to your athletes. Let it be an encouragement to a co-worker or a friend.
As I recently heard Pastor John Burns say at the 2013 Men's Conference at James River Assembly, "Teach your kids to never FALL and they'll find a way. Teach them to get back up and they'll always WIN."
Great victory almost always comes on the other side of great adversity. Now get back up, keep fighting, and go for the WIN.

ReplyDeleteAmen to that, LaDonna! :)
ReplyDeleteWhat a great reminder. I need to post that quote in my house to remind me to apply it daily when dealing with my kids. So often we want to protect our kids from failure, when what they really need is for us to teach them how to learn from mistakes and get back up and try again. Thank you, Jeremy for your beautiful words. So inspiring.
